Halloween Haunted Houses that Help Homeless Animals

Combining fun, fright, and philanthropy, from coast to coast a number of Halloween haunted houses will help dogs and cats who need forever homes as they help fear fans get in the ‘spirit’ of the 2018 screamin’ season! We were able to dig up the following attractions that will raise funds for paws causes as they raise heart rates…see if there is a Halloween happening with heart in your area! Keep in mind that haunted houses are for humans only… after all, no one wants to look like a scaredy cat in front of their dog!

Alabama

Montgomery Humane Society Haunted House
Where: 1150 John Overton Drive in Montgomery
When: October 19 – 20, October 26 – 27 and Halloween night
Admission: $15 at the door or $25 for a speed pass

Unleashing scares for a seventh season, this Alabama animal shelter’s haunted house is always somethiing to howl about! The cast keeping as silent as the grave on the topic of what gore is in store for visitors. Although not for the faint of heart, the mission of the anxiety-inducing attraction will warm the hearts of animal lovers.

California

Evil Vines Cemetery- Haunted House
Where:  2110 Euclid Avenue in Napa Valley
When:  October 27th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Halloween from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

While scaring the living daylights out of Halloween revelers this haunt helps to bring about the dawn of a new day for the companion and fair animals who have been offered a new lease on life thanks to Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch. The annual fright fest will accept donations for the no-kill rescue and sanctuary and have an information table set up so visitors can learn more about the paws cause.

Rotten Apple 907

Admission: Free (Donations requested.)
When: Each Saturday and Sunday from October 20 – 28, plus Halloween night
Where: 907 North California St. in Burbank

Giving is good for the soul (a soul you might lose when you enter creepy Killppetto’s Toy Shop!), so donations to this free fright fest are requested. All contributions received ill benefit the Volunteers of the Burbank Animal Shelter.

Delaware

Hockessin Haunted House
Where: 19 Nathalie Drive, Village of Manly in Hockessin
When: October 20 -21 and 27 – 28 (with rain dates October 22nd and 29th)
Admission: $5

Since 2010 Hockessin Haunted House has made a real killing for the no-kill organization Comp Animals Pet Rescue. In 2017 alone the Delaware scare fest sold more than $4,000 in tickets for the annual sojourn into the supernatural. This year victims will visit spirits that refuse to give up the ghost during a tour of The Manleyville Horror.

Florida

Terror Trail

Where: On the grounds of the Humane Society of Highlands County
7321 Haywood Taylor Boulevard in Sebring
When: Each Friday and Saturday in October

Sleepless hours may be the result for those who dare to face down the scares outside the Humane Society of Highlands County at Halloween, but this year’s Nightmares theme will lead to sweet dreams for the homeless dogs and cats in the non-profit’s care.

Iowa

Harris Haven Haunted Funeral Home
Where: 3767 Lafayette Road in Evansdale
When: October 5th – 6th, each Friday through Sunday from October 12th -28th, plus October 29th through Halloween and November 3rd
Admission: $20 for adults, $13 for children age 12 and under (fast pass available for an extra $5)

Exhumed for another year of fear, the horrors you encounter at Harris Haven Haunted Funeral Home may make your blood run cold. Visitors can rest in peace, however, knowing that the attraction helps the Cedar Bend Humane Society in its ongoing efforts to offer a new life to dogs and cats in need.

Missouri

The Beast Haunted House

Admission: Tickets range from $27 – $95

When: Friday and Saturday from September 14th – October 6th, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from October 11th – 20th, October 21st, October 25 – Halloween, plus November 2nd and 3rd

Where: 1401 West 13th Street in Kansas City

The nation’s largest haunted house attraction also has a big heart, and is a long-time supporter of the Great Plains SPCA.

New Hampshire

Haunted Overload

The winner of The Great Halloween Fright Night on ABC, this famous fear fest is a haunt with a lot of heart (and intestines, and brains, and…) which raises funds each year for the Cocheco Valley Humane Society.

From scaredy cats to doggedly devoted admirers of the horror genre, this villainous venue offers something for everyone. For the hard core Halloween attraction aficionado there’s the haunted trail, which just might lead to a dead end for those who dare to tread the path. However, things that go bump in the night won’t give you goosebumps when seen in the sunlight, so if your family includes a “little monster” or if you are simply dying to go to a haunted attraction without experiencing a terrified reaction, take a Day Haunt walk through an actor-free atmosphere filled with sets that would fill you with fear once the sun sets. For one evening only Haunted Overload also offers a look at the lair without scares during Fright Night Lite, which give visitors the opportunity to see all the special effects and eerie lighting without any encounters with evil.

By day the grounds that lead to The Beaver County Humane Society offers a second chance at life for dogs and cats in need, but when darkness falls the way to the facility will lead to creatures that will scare the living daylights out of those who embark on The Beastly Haunted Trail. A true trek into terror, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent.

Hundred Acres Manor
Where: 1 Hundred Acre Drive in Bethel Park
When: Opened in early September. October dates include October 1, 4 – 8, 11 – 15 and 18 – Halloween

People who wear their heart on their sleeve when it comes to paws causes will find that their heart is in their throat as they embark on a journey into fear at Pittsburgh’s popular fear factory. A star in the world of horror, Hundred Acres Manor has appeared on The Travel Channel, and consistently earns the title of one of this country’s creepiest Halloween haunts. Featuring over a mile of monsters in six attractions, plus two escape rooms and a “buried alive”simulator experience, over the years Hundred Acres Manor has raised more than one million dollars for The Homeless Education Children’s Fund and Animal Friends.

A famous fright site that starred in the 2014 silver screen screamfest The Houses October Built, Moxley Manor is celebrating its ninth year of spreading fear. Doors that may lead to your doom will open at two haunted houses, and victims (…er, visitors) are invited to come one, come all to the ghastliest show on Earth in the 3D Haunted House big Top Terror attraction. The goosebumps you get will be for a good cause, however, as a portion of each year’s ticket sales go to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the SPCA of Texas.

Reindeer Manor Halloween Park

Reindeer Manor “sleighs” the competition with four fright sites in one location. Deemed the oldest haunted house attraction in the Lone Star state, inside the main Reindeer Manor haunted house attendees can revel at their own risk at the Mad Mardi Gras Party; those who dare to enter the 13th Street Morgue (which has been confirmed to be haunted!) can dig up the funereal facilities’ gruesome past; inside the Dungeon of Doom brave souls can take a time trip back to the 80s thanks to Retrovision 3D; and the only light inside the Shadow House will be the gleam of a killer clown’s ghastly grin.

Reindeer Manor also offers fun for ‘fraidy cats, with dancers showing off their killer Thriller moves , a pyrotechnic presentation, rooftop entertainment, aerial and ax-throwing shows, escape rooms and much more.

Proceeds from the horror-themed park help several charities, including Streets to Sheets Animal Rescue.

Wisconsin

The Haunted Sawmill

No matter how you slice it, The Haunted Sawmill has its heart (and perhaps the hearts of others!) in the right place. For years the attraction has helped a local chapter of the Boy Scouts, and has raised both funds and food for worthy causes, including the local food pantry and the Lincoln County Humane Society.
